Library Media Center

The E. A. Cox Middle School Library Media Center houses over seventeen thousand print, audio-visual, and equipment items for use by students, faculty, and staff.  A flexible schedule allows teachers to reserve time for all subject areas to pursue projects in the library or to set aside time for individual students to come to the center.  Reading classes visit every two weeks for general checkout.

Information about the materials in the library collection may be found on the computer catalog.  The catalog is accessible on workstations throughout the building.  Three stations in the media center provide dedicated, continuous access to the on-line catalog.  Twenty-two additional computer stations, furnishing a variety of programs, word processing, and Internet access, are available to library patrons.

The CMS Library Media Center opened in 1997 with many of materials transferred from Spring Hill High School and Whitthorne Middle School.  Combined through the years with materials purchased specifically for Cox, a good basic collection of materials has evolved and continues to grow.

The library calendar is usually filled to capacity, and circulation of materials is high.  We at E. A. Cox Middle School are very excited to have such a fine and well-used facility.  We are always happy to accept monetary donations to the library as gifts, memorials, or donations in honor of students, family, or friends.  Such donations greatly add to our collection in areas where library funding falls short.
